Moth Treatment

At some point we have all experienced moth damage, be it our favourite jumper or a blanket in the bottom draw. Moth larvae love dark warm places making the deep pile of a carpet an ideal breeding ground. Unfortunately often the problem is not apparent until the larvae are visible which often means they have eaten their way through the pile devaluing the rug and ultimately requiring a repair or a replacement. Damage can be extensive as the female moth can lay as many as 200 eggs which hatch in spring and start feeding instantly.

Prevention

We believe prevention is part of the solution and as such we treat all our pieces annually with a specialist treatment ensuring both the larvae and the moths are unable to establish. We strongly recommend our customers have their carpets cleaned treated.

Treatment

We recommend that the carpet is professionally cleaned first to remove any live larvae and casings. We will then treat your carpet with a specialist moth spray which will inhibit further development of moth eggs and larvae. The treatment we use is odourless and colourless and safe the home environment once dried.

Restoration

We specialise in restoration work and are happy to provide a quote for damage caused by moths. Restoration costs will depend on the nature and extent of the damage.
