Cleaning

Over time dust, dirt and grit build up accumulating deep in the pile. This build up will ultimately discolour the carpet, compress the pile and reduce the overall appeal and nature of the piece. Professional cleaning can help restore the whole appearance, make colours look more vibrant and soften the pile to the touch. We recommend cleaning a vintage or antique piece every 5-10 years depending on where and who uses the piece.   

Step 1

The first step in the cleaning process is a dry beating technique designed to remove as much grit, grime and dirt from the pile as possible before washing. Principally this is done using a beater hoover and can be a lengthy process depending on the amount of dust that has built up in the pile over time. In principle the rug will be beaten from the back pushing the dust back through the pile.
 

Step 2

We will wash your carpet using a soap solution tailored specifically to your individual pieces needs. This solution will be strong enough to remove dirt and grime that has build up on the surface but will also enable us to cleaning deep down into the rugs pile.

Step 3

Once your carpet has been washed it will be thoroughly rinsed ensuring all chemicals have been removed and carefully dried and brushed to ensure the pile is lying in the correct direction.
